Our Story

As any local or regular visitor will know, when you walk or drive through the Great Otway National Park, Otway Forest Park and surrounding hinterland, there is a common view – looming gums overhead, a lush carpet of fern foliage beneath. It is for this reason Fern & Gum is the name we have chosen to bring together all the incredible product offerings from the artisans across the Otway region.

Fern & Gum | Otway Artisan Hampers is a family business based from our small farm on the edge of Deans Marsh, between Winchelsea and Lorne.

The concept of an Otway hamper business grew organically from our Christmas gift shopping in 2018 at our fabulous local corner shop, The Store, Deans Marsh.
As we gathered items for teachers thank yous and friend and family Christmas gifts, the idea bloomed.

It has taken nearly a year, on the side, to bring this idea to life. Along the way we have been so fortunate to utilise the knowledge of family and friends, and meet a host of locals bursting with talent and incredible offerings, all who have been so generous and willing to share their knowledge and experiences with us.

Our thoughtfully curated gift hampers have been designed to make life simple.
Dinner boxes that can be sent to a friend in need, Christmas hampers, for those who you know don’t need a thing other than good food & wine,

We’re excited to be on the beginning of Fern & Gum’s journey. Sharing our love of the Otways beyond the view from our front paddock, we feel honored to be able to showcase these Otway Artisan’s produce in the way of a beautiful gift.
